Kew Gardens has been voted the most Instagrammable botanical garden in the world, thanks to its impressive living plant collection (there are 50,000 in total), luscious flowers and head-turning glasshouse, new research has found.
Looking to celebrate the wonders of spring by visiting a beautiful garden? With over 744,000 Instagram hashtags, OnBuy Greenhouses found that London’s popular garden is a firm favourite with visitors — and we’re not at all surprised.
‘Botanical gardens are known for their aesthetically pleasing layouts and plethora of plants to admire,’ say OnBuy Greenhouses. ‘Kew is home to the world’s oldest plant, the cycad, which has been around since 1775. Plus, it also has over 50,000 different plants in its living collection and around seven million preserved specimens. Many exotic animals also reside in Kew Gardens, such as peacocks, wild European badgers and at one point even kangaroos!’
This isn’t the first time Kew has been voted the most popular garden. In August last year, research from Flying Flowers found it was crowned the UK’s top garden for a summer visit, described as the place the British public are most interested in.
Across the pond, other botanical gardens that made the list include Longwood Gardens, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Chicago Botanic Garden in the USA. Meanwhile, the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney in Australia came in eighth place and Morocco’s Jardin Majorelle scooped the fourth spot — a stunning four-acre plot of land just outside the centre of Marrakech.
